London A.G.M.

6/2/06

This might start a bit of a discussion. But why do we always have to have the AGM of GSS in a London Church. There are more Servers living outside of London than in the London area. Maybe somewhere in the Midlands might be a good idea, as this would be a half way point for most people.

Lets get the ball rolling.

London is history now surely. It was probably used as a venue because being the capital I suppose it impressed some folk in the old days,(No traffic like now),

I lived and was educated in London, but can't stand the place any more!!

Regards and best wishes

From the north east it is just as easy and quick to get to London by train as it would be to get to Birmingham.

Other locations in the midlands would be more difficult.

It would be cheaper if we could organise coach travel, but the time element would become excessive, it took 5 hours to get to Liverpool for the Autumn festival.

I am not in favour of the AGM taking place in the midlands. London is still our capital city and far too many events are already taking place in Birmingham.

Dear Brothers,

I have not been active for some years now (especially due to living the US) But I wanted to comment on the London Festival and AGM.

The last time I attended was probably 20 years ago (probably when they did the last recording, which I still own)

I don't know whether anyone has read the description of the 2005 AGM on the Ship of Fools site by their "Mystery Worshipper". If I was The General Secretary or Warden, I would be highly concerned, because it does not show
us in a good light. It sounds like whole thing is a circus, and what only 160 attended??

When I was active it was more like 500!

I think it is high time the Guild revamped itself and would think about modernising itself ( and I am not talking about the Guild Office which is quite beautiful),  You think about Growth, GROWTH, and GROWTH! before it is too late.

In Christ
