Former Bishop's Crozier

The use of a Crozier by Bishops (previously a Diocesan/Assistant Bp.) now in parish/sector ministry.

Is it Anglican custom for such to continue the holding of a Crozier during services in his parish church ?

I have no plain answer to this question.

As I understand it, however it is a question of whether the crozier is a symbol of office or of Jurisdiction. I sometimes assist in a well known London church and a visiting bishop may carry his z or not depending on what line he takes.

It will be interesting tomorrow to see if the Bishop of Whitby carries his crozier or not at the National Pilgrimage to Walsingham!

The Bishop is Our Lords Representative amongst us as his Shepherd of His Sheep  and thus he has a Crozier and this is the reason that he hold his crozier when giving The  Blessing to the congregation at the end of a service and in procession.

May be one might ask why Bishops wear a Mitre? any answers.

Kind regards
