Stephen Raymond Thomas
Ray passed away on 30th November 2006 at the age of 80 after a long illness. He was a founder member of the Grimsby Chapter and for many years chapter organist. He was also organist and choirmaster at Walton Parish Church near Grimsby and had a great reputation for training choristers and organising Royal School of Church Music courses for his choir.
Ray was born in Grimsby and served as a Bevan Boy. He then worked for Grimsby Council as a Debt Collector.
His funeral took place on 11th December 2006 at All Saints, Walton conducted by Canon Ian Shelton who paid tribute to Ray’s talents. Also Fr. Michael Sheals a former Rector of the Parish who spoke about Ray’s talent in training and devotion to the choir.
He was buried in Waltham Cemetery.
